10/10 was Taiwan’s birthday! Flags 🙂

This week has been absolutely great! We see so many miracles each day and it is really very exciting. This last week I’ve really been able to notice some of the improvements in my Chinese. Although there are a lot of things I’ve been learning that are more important, such as following the Spirit and knowing how to teach, but all of those things are made easier as the language improves. I know that I have received SO MUCH help in learning this language. But this week, so many times, I have just had the thought, “Wow. I just spoke Mandarin Chinese.” or “Wow. They just spoke Mandarin Chinese and I understood it.” or even a couple of times “Wow. I just read that street sign!” That was absolutely impossible months ago and the gift of tongues is so real. It is something that is a big challenge being a missionary here, but it is something that has also helped me more than ever to learn to rely on my Heavenly Father. He has helped me so much. So many miracles have occurred every day to help me do the work that I need to do. I am so grateful for the challenge I have been given and how much I am learning every day from it.

Last P-Day we went to the ocean with a wonderful investigator and member. It was so fun! Sometimes I forget that I live on an island in the middle of the ocean haha! It was so pretty. We also ate some awesome seafood. My favorite was the big shrimp. I kind of messed up on the first one and didn’t pull off his whole head and ran into some brain juice, but once I figured out it was delicious!

The major highlight of the week was that we went to the temple with the Li family! They are the greatest. They have been working and preparing to be sealed together for some time now and I am so glad that I had the chance to go with them. They have four sons that are 12, 8, 4, and 5 months old. We went up to Taipei with the Wu Feng ward early that morning. It was such an incredible experience to be in the temple with that family. They were magnificent in white all together. That moment with them in the temple is one of the greatest moments of my life and my mission. It was great to be with our little Wu Feng ward family. I am so glad that our families can be together forever.

We see so many miracles every day. Here’s some for this week.

-We looked up a former investigator this week and it was fantastic. It has been one of my goals to “find the end to every story” in our Area Book. A lot of previous sisters didn’t write in why they had stopped meeting with previous investigators, so we are working to call/ find all of them. On Thursday, I felt impressed to go visit one that hadn’t ever answered our calls. We found her house which was fun. It was in a little alley and I got to practice my map skills. We found the greatest little A’ma (grandma) who talked to us about her daughter who had passed away and we talked to her about eternal families and prayer. It was a really spiritual experience and we’re meeting with her again tonight. I’m so glad we were led to find her.

-We were riding over to dinner one night and passed a guy selling bananas on the street. I felt like we needed to turn around and talk to him, so we did. We talked for a bit on the street corner and bought some bananas from him. We just introduced the message of the Restoration a little and he had some interest. We got his number and referred him to the elders. Who knows if that will come to anything, but I know I was guided to talk to him and I’m glad that I followed that prompting.

-On Saturday when we were at the temple up in Taipei! It was so great. At the temple that morning, I just so happened to run into…Sister Stevens! Qiji! (Miracle!) She’s the best. We were in the same student ward at USU and we were at the MTC together. It was just so great that she happened to be there at that time and I got to see a good friend from home! So amazing too because she just so happened to be one of the temple tour sisters that day. Loved it! Small island haha.

-We have been working really hard as a district to get our recent converts and some of the less active members we are working with to church every week. This week was one of the very best so far. We had several people come who had not been committing and it was just so great to see them there and enjoy with them.

-I spoke in church with the other missionaries in our ward yesterday. That was quite terrifying, I’ll be honest. Speaking in church is something that would normally stress me out quite a lot, but in Chinese is another story. But it turned out really well in the end and I was happy with it.

-This week when I’ve been contacting, I’ve really tried to make sure that I share my testimony every single time I talk to someone. I have already seen SO MANY blessings in that. The instant I start bearing my testimony, I am led by the Spirit to say what I need to say.

This work is the happiest work. I know it is the work of the Lord. I am so grateful to be here in Taiwan and I am so glad to be a missionary! I love you all so much! You’re the best!
