Hello everyone! Everything is so great! I don’t know if I can even express how much I love being a missionary. It is really the greatest thing ever. This week will be Chinese New Year here in Taiwan! I’m pretty pumped about that. We’ll be eating with members a whole lot- which will be fun, but it might be a bit harder to try to meet with anyone else. We’re praying to still be able to find some willing people even in the busy holiday season.
There was an earthquake the other night. It was just a little one, but it sure did wake us up. Taiwan is always exciting!
We had an awesome Zone Training earlier this week and it was absolutely amazing! We learned a whole lot, especially about helping people have a spiritual experience at church. I was really strengthened in my testimony of the converting power of church.
The other night for our English spiritual share we talked about pray and watched the Mormon Messages ‘Earthly Father, Heavenly Father’ and ‘A Mother’s Prayer.’ Long story short- Sister Biancardi and I were both all teary and touched and the little kids just thought we were weird. Haha. But we shared with them how to pray and committed them to try it!
MIRACLE! I just got an email from Sister Sears back up north and she let me know that one of the people we had taught together got baptized last week after investigating the church for over a year. Super great to hear! She finally decided to sincerely pray and get an answer. I know that everyone can receive that witness and I’m glad that Zheng Jiemei got hers and acted on it! Even though I wasn’t there to see it, I’m super excited for her!
This week we’ve continued to work with Fu Jiemei. She is absolutely the most incredible and humble person I have ever met! She and her son Jia Xiang are working so hard to prepare to be baptized and we are so excited. This last week, we taught them several of the commandments and they were just so willing. When we taught the Word of Wisdome, Fu Jiemei shared with us that she completely quit smoking the day after she met the missionaries 6 weeks ago. She hadn’t been taught that it was a commandment or anything at that point, but she felt the Spirit and she wanted to change. We had no idea. I am so excited about their little family. I am so grateful to see the power that the gospel has already brought into their home and I just love it. I am so excited when I see those little kids go to Primary and know that they probably won’t remember the time when they started coming to church or going to bed at night without a prayer, because their mom is making those changes when they are so young. They are such a miracle and I am grateful for the opportunity that Heavenly Father has given me to work with the them in sharing the gospel.
Last night, I got to serve in an unexpected way! A member in our ward has a son who just went to serve in the Provo, Utah mission. She’s not very technologically savvy and couldn’t google where he was and couldn’t figure out how to translate some things. Basically, I was able to help her figure out where Utah is! She was so touched! She just wanted to know where in the world her son was! Such a great little service.
I love you all and I LOVE missionary work!
