RIGHT NOW IT IS LITERALLY POURING RAIN ON TOP OF THE INTERNET CAFE. Buckets and buckets of rain haha.
Well, I’m a couple of days early 🙂 We had our P-Day changed to Friday because of the new move call! Sister Johnston moved up to YongKang in Tainan- I’m super excited for her. We have had some great times together the last couple of weeks. My new companion is Jiang Jiemei or Sister Chiang! She is from Taipei. She is SUPER great. She got here a couple hours ago and just told me that she loves to work. I do too and I am incredibly excited to get to working with her. She’s really short haha, and I’m kind of tall- so by the end of our first ten minutes she said her neck was sore and we laughed really hard.
XiaoGang is the land of miracles!! I mean it. I love every area I have served in and every companion that I have served with, and every day is always just FULL of miracles. Wow the last several weeks in XiaoGang have really just been killer. I can’t even begin to express how much I love this work. I love it so much. Working hard is the greatest thing in the world. I love just crawling into bed at night completely exhausted and then somehow having energy to get up on time the next day and get to work again, inviting and helping everyone around us to come unto Christ. One of my wonderful companions once told me, “Sprint to the very end of every day.” I have found that is the greatest way to be. Being lost in this work is the greatest way to live. I love being a missionary more than anything. If I’m not exhausted at the end of the day, I know I need to work harder.
Even though it’s only been a couple of days since I last talked to all of you, we still saw a ton of miracles! A TON!
Here’s the coolest thing EVER. On Tuesday while I was on exchanges in Nanzi, Sister Johnston and Sister Slater went to eat dinner at this place on the corner that we eat at literally three times a week. The cute worker who always helps us out and talks to us was there and she had a Book of Mormon! So obviously they asked her about it and discovered she was Wu Dong Mei! Wu Dong Mei is an investigator who had been meeting with the Daliao sisters but then they discovered lived over here. We have been trying to call her for weeks, and she hasn’t ever answered. Sister Slater and Sister Johnston took her to the church and taught her the first lesson and invited her to be baptized next month- she not only agreed, but was really excited to! What an amazing thing it is that we were trying so hard to contact a person who had always been right in front of us. It was a real testament to me that I should always be talking to everyone around me. Heavenly Father has a plan that includes giving all of His children a chance to hear and accept the gospel, and I am so glad that I have a small part to play in that. I am so grateful that He has set everything up just so perfectly. His plan is just perfect!
We have recently been invited by our zone leaders to strive to “add’ 3 new people every day. An “add” is contacting someone, exchanging information and setting up a specific time to share the gospel with them. I’ll be honest, I was a little worried about this invitation at first. I can exchange information with a bunch of people every day and then call them later to set up a time, but setting up a specific time in the contact is a bit harder. But I have really prayed to have faith in this goal and have been striving to work for it every day. On Wednesday, we already had two adds before English class. Then, we were coming home late from our English party (on English party nights, it’s always hard to get home before 9:00), and we were at the last stoplight before we got in to our apartment. I passed through the green light and waved at a girl standing on the corner. Then I got a feeling that I really needed to turn around and talk to her. So I did, even though we were late. Sister Johnston came back too. I started to talk to the girl and even though she was busy with school starting, she really felt the Spirit and was willing to meet with us in a couple of weeks! Then after she went to cross the street this adorable mom came up with her little daughter and we testified of the way the gospel blesses families 🙂 She was really excited about the gospel and said that she really wanted to meet us! I am so grateful for the promptings of the Spirit and I am SO grateful every time I turn around. It’s always worth it!
Yesterday we met with one of our wonderful investigators who just hasn’t been keeping commitments, but last week she came to church for the first time and it absolutely changed her life! She had so many wonderful questions and she now really sees the need for the gospel foundation in her life. It’s amazing to see such a change in her. I really think she will accept the gospel now as she starts to make those small changes.
We also met with Liang Jiemei. SHE IS AMAZING! We met her my second week here. She was a referral from our phone system and I just called her my first week here and she set up a time to meet with us. Since then she has taken to the gospel like a fish to water. She loves praying and the Book of Mormon. There is nothing that is going to stop her now. She is moving up to Taizhong for school in a couple of weeks and planning to be baptized in October! As we discussed the plan of salvation with her this week, she just lit up. She couldn’t even believe how good Heavenly Father’s plan is! I am so excited for her!
Lin Jia Ying is also progressing really well. She is super cute and really has a desire to follow Jesus Christ. At first, she didn’t have a testimony that God exists, but as she has started to pray with real intent, she has found answers and gained a firmer and firmer testimony that God really is our Heavenly Father. She is excited to keep the commandments and has so much faith now!
XiaoGang is just so full of miracles and joy and love! When I moved down here a move call ago, everyone just said the air quality is bad, but I haven’t even noticed that! I mean it. The way you look at a place or any situation will change it!
I went on exchanges to Nanzi on Tuesday with Lin Jiemei. Nothing really went according to our plan, but it was all okay- we are out doing the Lord’s work in His time. In the end, the biggest miracle was that we were able to meet with Teresa! I was able to share with her some of my personal experiences in gaining revelation and it really helped to understand how to find the answers she needed. EXCHANGES ALWAYS BRING MIRACLES. That is a fact. I am so grateful for the chance I have been given to serve as a sister training leader and work with so many incredible sisters. I learn SO MUCH from them every day.
Last P-day we went to the QiJin island! Super cool! I ate the best squid ever!
Life is going SO GOOD. There literally is NOTHING better than being a missionary. I am so grateful to serve in the Taiwan Taizhong Mission. It’s the happiest place on earth. We work hard and we see miracles. I AM JUST SO HAPPY TO BE A MISSIONARY!!!
